angry monkey
Today's perforce fun:
$ p4 diff2 file1 file2
==== file1#15 (ktext) - file2#18 (ktext) ==== identical
$ p4 print file1 > A
$ p4 print file2 > B
$ diff -u A B | wc -l
36
$

Thanks, perforce!

Line end shenanigans?

No, substantial chunks of text were missing from file1.

Very odd. I have never seen p4 botch a diff right out of the blue like that. Could this be an artifact of using diff -u on ktext files with expanded keywords? But even so, that should give you about 6 lines of diff output, not 36.

As I said, substantial lines of text were missing from one file. I don't entirely know what happened, as I had to call in someone to fix it. It's quite possible there was a problem with the server; I just don't know. Like most perforce things, it shall remain a mystery.
