homer, argh
Every Friday, Skillet Street Food comes to visit one block from my office. Their food is delicious, and is something I look forward to every week.

Well! Someone wasn't happy with this (we're not quite sure who, but we have some ideas) and complained to SDOT about them (since they park on the street, even if it is the end of a cul-de-sac), so now they have to move. Noooo!

Hopefully they will find another close-by place to park. And if it was the nearby above-mentioned cafe that complained, you can bet your ass I'll never eat there again.

That cafe sucks anyway. :(

It got slightly better after the new owners took over, actually, but it's still not a great place. Having breakfast sandwiches so close work was very useful. They did a satisfaction survey a while back and I gave them lots of suggestions on how to not suck so much. Of course, that might not matter now...

The convenience factor was certainly very nice. I went to the diner across the street once or twice when the cafe was closed, and kind of wished I'd been able to go to the cafe instead.

I think that is as good a capsule review of that diner as I've ever read.

Have you so informed the malefactors?

I think it's time for a city inspector to check out their kitchen.

Lee, beat me to it. City inspector time!!

I have not been back to the skillet in quite a while. I get their menu every week and nothing has just hit me - I want their fried chicken again! But, it may well be time for a burger again.

Really? Wow. They made us their Friday stop not too long after the last fried chicken appearance (so good!), and I've been unable to resist week after week. Sure, the burger is a staple, but I tend to go for whatever is different that week. I haven't been quite as happy with their price increases, though; I can no longer consider them a bargain. But given the paucity of other lunch choices, I was very, very happy to have them around. I hope they return.

And like I said to Lee, if I knew for sure it was the cafe who's responsible I might bring them to the attention of The System as well, but I don't. We're supposed to hear more on Monday; I'll keep you (all) posted.

If I knew for sure it was the owners, I might consider it. Apparently more information will be forthcoming on Monday, and I want to at least hear what has to be said.

i'm confused

SDOT sounds like the dept of transportation for seattle

are street vendors not legal in that area?

or, mebbe the Skillet folks didn't get a permit to vend?

SDOT is indeed the Dept. of Transportation for Seattle.

Street vendors are legal, and Skillet does have a permit (there are actually 2 you need and they have both). In fact, the police showed up when they first started coming to work regularly and they checked their permits and were fine with their location. However, and this is secondhand info as I don't work for SDOT, apparently what you can't do is block a right-of-way, and somehow Skillet is allegedly doing that. Or maybe the people in line are blocking it. In short, there's some technicality they're allegedly iolating.

We've been told twice now that more information would be forthcoming, but it has yet to materialize. I await it eagerly...
