Wish I'd thought of that

yay, kermit
There are very few things that make me upset that I hadn't thought of them first. Prior to today, the biggest was Million Dollar Home Page (the one where the college kid made $1,000,000 selling a page of 10x10 pixel ads).

Today's entry: noonhat. It's a way to combat the Seattle Freeze. You give them your email address, a date, and draw a circle where you could meet someone or someones for lunch, and they match you up with one or more random people for some (hopefully) scintillating conversation. Linkedin meets The Internet Oracle, sort of. How awesome is that? Since it's a random match, based only on place and time, it should discourage people looking only for sex/hookups.

I signed up for Thursday; I'll let you know.

Freaky. How random is it? I mean, do they match you with anyone that's signed up for this service or do they at least try to match you with someone they think you'd find interesting?

It's basically just random. You don't specify anything about yourself, so they don't have anything to go on. I think it's a great way to meet people you never would have run into before. We'll see if my optimism gets crushed under the wheels of reality, but I have high hopes.
