Two big trips are on my horizon. First, the annual trip to Madison, WI for onetruewilliam's Ides of March party. I'll be gone from Mar 17-22. A visit to my sister in Chicago is also on the menu, and if unzeugmatic and/or cpj are available and interested, a trip to Minneapolis could also happen (jss1113 says he'll be at Ides, so I'll see him then). I'd hoped for this to be a week-long excursion, but my work project is due the end of March, so a 5 day absence in the middle is contraindicated.

After that is a big trip to the southwest. My new friend, the adorable K, lives in Phoenix, AZ, and has expressed interest in joining me. I had planned for a week in mid-May, but ted_badger will be out there in late April, and I have extra vacation days (since I'm cutting my Madison trip short), so my current thought is Apr 28-May 7. Lots of details have to be worked out (uh, including confirmation that those dates work for both of those guys :-), but that's the gist of it. I won't be able to see everything I want, but the points of interest include the Grand Canyon (north rim only; the glass walkway I so badly wanted to visit won't be done by then, dammit), Moab, Bryce Canon, Arches, Zion, Arcosanti, Sedona, and whatever else we have time for. This won't be a rushed trip, though; the idea will be to relax and enjoy the scenery and company. Low-stress is key. Whatever works out will work out. It will be cool.

I was at Zion, Bryce, and the North Rim a couple years ago. Quite an amazing area. Hard to think of anything similar.

LOL! Since I know how much you love learning about things, Wikipedia has a decent page explaining it.

Bah to Wikipedia! Bah, I say. For some bizzare reason, it doesn't like the trailing slash.

I met with Tom this weekend to discuss the details of our roadtrip. I will unfortunately only be around for the southern half of it -- Tom is driving out to Utah first... so the timing is tricky.

I'm flying into Phoenix on Wednesday Apr 26 and will be in town 1-2 days, then heading down to Tucson for a few more, and thence to southern New Mexico, Dallas, and home.

If you're free for a bit this evening, gimme a call to discuss. Yeah I know... I'm a bad person... I haven't returned your last call yet... sorry about that. I won't leave you hangin' this time.

My plan was not to travel along with you guys, I was just hoping to spend a little time together with you in Phoenix. Mondays are gym nights for me, so I won't be free until 10:30 Pacific time, which might be a little late for you. I'll call you tomorrow night; Tuesdays are better.

What, you don't want to see me twice, in both WI and MN? I'm hurt!

I still might! We'll see how things work out. I've never been to MN (except for the drive on the way here), so it would be cool to see it.

Yeah, it doesn't count as "seeing" when that verb is followed by "from the Interstate highway only."

A little over a week!!
