Weekend was pretty good. Friday night I picked up my new shoes at REI, and had a very nice pizza dinner with ctseawa
Saturday was mostly doing taxes and doing lots of deep cleaning. Found out my bike is ready to be picked up, and that it didn't need a new wheel after all, so it will only cost $20 instead of $200.
and his fiance, Roxanne, took me to lunch at Hot Dish. Mmmmm. I had the Eggs Benedict (very good, but not great; they used smoked ham instead of Canadian Bacon) and the kids' size biscuits and gravy (amazingly good! this will be hard to beat). Will definitely be going back there.
Sunday night was Moroccan food at Marrakesh, which was in no way a going away party for ctseawa
who's going away to Oslo for six weeks.
Sunday afternoon was when we (my siblings and I) collectively called my father to announce his birthday present (his 60th is in April): a trip to see all the WWI/WWII war sites in Europe. He's retired, and can pretty much buy any item he wants, so this was a very well-received treat for him. We couldn't keep it a surprise, since he's going to need to apply for a passport. The big surprise for my mother (who's 60 in March) is a shiny new diamond
. It's pretty, but the whole DeBeers conspiracy, artificial scarcity business leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Still, it's what she's wanted pretty much her whole life, and it's great to be able to give it to her.
Also this week was my first (of two) surgery follow ups, and everything looks good. All the little things that my paranoid mind thought might mean that it was unsuccessful turned out to be perfectly normal and expected for being a month out. All signs point to no more intestinal problems, though it'll be 2 more months before we know for sure.
Got my hair colored today; it's pretty good, but a fair bit more subtle than I was hoping for. We'll try something more daring next time.
