I have been sulkingwondering why none of my posts were generating any replies. Then rainbear mentioned that my posts aren't on his friends page. So I look, and sure enough, they're not. Then I look at all my friends' friends pages, and my posts are missing from them too. Curiouser and curiouser...

Long story short, posts marked as "backdated" STUPIDLY don't show up on friends pages. And since I had my screed futuredated so as to always be up top (like geeksdoitbetter has on her page) , LJ STUPIDLY would never accept any of my entries unless they were backdated. So they were all backdated, and never showed up anywhere. Fan-fucking-tastic.

This is now fixed, FSVO fixed.

ah, that explains it. how, uhm, dumb. i really wish these fuckers, since six apart (who make decent to good blogging software) owns them now, would move LJ into 2006 (or at least 2004) interface and feature wise. like, why the fuck can't i get an rss feed of my friends page? or embed arbitrary journal content in another place without using dangerous and totally ridiculous methods? it's a shit blogging package; pity there are so many people i know who use it...

Yeah, me too! Thanks for pointing that out; who knows how long that would have gone on unnoticed?

whew, that's a relief.

how'd ya fix it?

and do ya have a client yet, to make posts from? or do you use the lj update thang?

I "fixed" it by dating my original post back in time, then going to each other post, and unticking the "is backdated" checkbox. Tedious, non-obvious, and not totally satisfactory.

So, Girlie, how do you have your journal set up? Does your top post have the "is backdated" mark set? Do you have to set it on all your posts? How did you get that top post to work?

I'm not using a client, just the web site to update. I probably should investigate one, it might make me rage a little less.

the top post is actually dated "dec 2014"

*grin* was the only way i could figure to ensure it'd always show first

i believe, back when i was using the site to update, i got a "backdate?" question

but, i've been using the client for ever now and can't really remember the last time i got a "backdate?" question (other than, of course, when i purposely go into an old post and revise it)
